PETS ON PARADE AT THE AMERICAN VISIONARY ART MUSEUM
Saturday•July 4• 9:30am Pet Registration: 10am- Visionary Pets on Parade! The best dog-gone parade in town! Followed by the Pet Talent (Or Not) Show. Each entrant has the opportunity to take the stage and perform a real (or imagined) trick or talent. Or merely look good. In past years, hermit crabs have re-enacted revolutionary War battles; a rabbit (and eventual Visionary Pet Award Winner) has incited an outbreak of Peace and Understanding with her gaze; and, of course, we've seen endearing attempts to sit, speak, roll over, high-five, fetch, catch, eat corn off the cob, etc.) Following the talent portion (while the esteemed panel of judges deliberates), pets can engage in a rousing game of Musical Chairs (no chairs are actually used); loll in the refreshing pools provided by AVAM; sniff one another; taunt the one brave cat that always comes; or just revel in the well-deserved praise and affection poured upon them by the enthusiastic crowd. Nothing is more patriotic than oohing and aahing over a pair of chihuahuas in devil and angel get-ups. Trophies awarded for Best Costume, Most Patriotic, Owner & Pet Look-alikes, Least Likely to Succeed as a Pet, and more – including the Most Visionary Pet Award!
